As I was preparing to leave work today, there were fire truck engines to be heard approaching campus (nothing unusual there). But I walked outside of Dupuis, Clergy side, and JOCK HARTY ARENA WAS ON FIRE! I'm not talking building-burning-down, but I am talking billowing-smoke-from-one-side-of-the-building and a general smoky aroma coming from the entrance at Clergy & Division. The fire crews had it under control when I got outside, so unfortunately I have no idea how it started or what happened. It was raining crazy hard for about 30 mins (King St. by the ferry was flooded Peterborough-style apparently) and someone said something about lightening striking a tree outside the arena and catching fire, so maybe that's what started it... at any rate, what a bizarre sight that was.
